Loan Policies
All library materials owned by Gardiner Library may be borrowed for a three-week period and renewed once unless on reserve for someone else. Interlibrary Loan materials may be renewed once. There is no limit on how many items may be borrowed.
Online renewal can be done at Minerva. You will need your library card to access your account. A brochure is available at the library for anyone needing detailed step-by-step directions.
Library Cards
Library services are free to residents of the following communities: Gardiner, Litchfield, Randolph, Pittston, South Gardiner, and West Gardiner. Nonresidents may purchase subscription cards for an annual fee of $65 per household, $45 for those over age 65. A summer card may be purchased from Memorial Day to Labor Day for $30.
Identification (with a current street address) and a reference are required when applying for a library card. Children under age 18 also need a parent's signature.
Reserves and Interlibrary Loan
Materials on loan can be reserved and held for the next borrower when returned. Materials will be held at the circulation desk for five days after notification and are limited to 15 items per library card. Materials not included in the Gardiner Library's collection may be requested from other libraries free of charge. The library catalog is accessible via the internet at Minerva where reserves may be made online. Brochures on how to reserve online are available at the library.
Reciprocal Agreement with Lithgow and Waterville:
As of September 2008 the Gardiner Public Library began a reciprocal agreement with the Lithgow Public Library in Augusta and the Waterville Public Library. Members with a valid Gardiner Public Library card may now use their Gardiner Library card at these two libraries as well. To be valid, the card must be up-to-date (not expired) and not have fines in excess of $5.00.
