The Oaklands
Gardiner Public Library Photographs
The Oaklands is the mansion designed by prominent architect Richard Upjohn
for Robert Hallowell Gardiner in 1834 and where seven generations of the
family have resided until present. It is considered one of the
finest specimens of Gothic Revival architecture in the United States,
and three American presidents have visited here.
