The Oaklands

Gardiner Public Library Photographs

The Oaklands is the mansion designed by prominent architect Richard Upjohn for Robert Hallowell Gardiner in 1834 and where seven generations of the family have resided until present. It is considered one of the finest specimens of Gothic Revival architecture in the United States, and three American presidents have visited here.
