Children’s Events ~ Winter 2018

Just letting you know some of the upcoming events in the

Children’s Room this winter.

Ms. Jenn and the Nutrition Detectives will visit us three times ~

Tuesdays, Feb. 6^th, Mar. 6^th and Apr. 3^rd.

We will have stories, songs and a craft at

10:00am for preschoolers.

Nocturnal Animals presented by LC Bates Museum on

Tuesday, Feb. 20^th at 10:00am during school vacation week.

We will show a Movie on Thursday, Feb. 22^nd at 10:00am.

Stay tuned, we will announce the movie as the time gets close.

Upstream will join us for Art @ the Library on

Tuesday, Feb. 27^th, from 6:00 to 7:00pm.

Create your own 9×12 original unframed fish art.

Art materials and paper provided.

Story Time & Crafts every Tuesday at 10:00am.

Babies Love Babies on Fridays at 10:00am.

Adults and children are welcome to attend these events.

Children’s Programs

On Thursday, Aug. 4^th, we hosted an Outreach Program from the L.C. Bates Museum at Good Will-Hinckley in Hinckley, Maine, titled “Life in the 1900s” at the library. They had clothing to try on, games to play and crafts to do. It was a very hands-on program and they showed what items were used in schools in the 1900s.

Our next event for children is an Ice Cream Social on Tuesday, Aug. 16^th, at 11:30 bringing our Summer Reading to a close.

In September we will have Ms. Jenn the Nutrition Detective come in and visit on Tuesday, Sept. 13^th, at 10:00 for story time. She will have songs, stories, and a craft.

Summertime At The Library

We have had some wonderful summer events already and have more to come.

Summer Reading Program has started, and if you have not picked up your chart, please come in and pick it up. We have a chart for Readers and a chart for a Listeners. After August 3rd you will be able to pick up your free paperback book after filling up your chart. Teens have a different program where they get a ticket when they check out items. Check with the YA librarian about this program.

Monday, June 27^th, we had a Chewonki program here in the library which was “Owls in Maine”. We had a full house, and the children really seemed to enjoy the owls.

Every Tuesday morning we have Story and Craft Time at 10:00-11:30 am. This has been a huge success this summer so far. Here is one of the crafts that has been created.

We are showing the Harry Potter movies in succession on Tuesday evenings from 5-7:30 pm and on Wednesdays 10 am – 12:30 pm. All 8 movies, in order: 1 movie per week. Popcorn is included.

Thursday, Aug. 4^th from 10:00-11:15 am we have L.C. Bates coming to present “Life in Maine in the early 1900’s”. Weather permitting we will have part of this program outdoors in the garden.

Tuesday, August 16^th at 11:30 am will be an Ice Cream social to end the Summer Reading Program.
